Hello, welcome to Lux Daycare & Out of School Care. We are a Reggio Emilia inspired program, focusing on positive child development. 

If you are an Edmonton area family wanting the most modern (as well as one of the most coveted) methods in early learning and care, one that considers the whole child, this is the program for you! We are an open-minded, exploratory method of early childhood education that encourages diversity, flexibility and relationship building. Why is it that as adults, we place so much emphasis on children learning their ABC’s and none at all on relationships, which is one of the most useful skills in life? 

No limitations are placed on your child’s learning. We believe that children are highly competent individuals considered “knowledge bearers” and citizens of our community. They are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas about everything they could meet or do during the day. Influenced by this belief, the child is beheld as beautiful, powerful, competent, creative, curious, full of potential, ambitions and desires. 

We are here to follow children’s lead, ensuring they grow to their fullest potential while developing a love for learning simultaneously. With them, we co-create and construct knowledge of the world that surrounds them utilizing self-led, open ended emergent planning to support the image of the whole child. 

We know learning happens while doing, not memorizing. At Lux Daycare and OSC, children learn through experience: touching, tasting, smelling; using all of their senses to communicate and absorb the wonders of their world. Our educators carefully design each activity to be developmentally appropriate, catering to all domains of development. The calm, natural environment allows children to remain focused on their own emotions, thinking and exploring. 

We strive to make Lux Daycare and OSC a home away from home for the children. Everything is designed for children’s wellbeing and growth in mind; a nurturing place where children, educators, families and communities connect.
